Kelso, my dog, died several years ago and while I miss him deeply, the experiences surrounding his passing profoundly transformed me and helped shape who I am today. Without Kelso’s gift through death, my school of animal communication may never have blossomed as it currently does.

As an animal communicator (pet psychic) and teacher, I connect intuitively with animals for work as an animal communicator (pet psychic). At the time of Kelso’s passing, however, this was no longer my forte; although I could connect to other dogs just fine through Danielle MacKinnon School; yet at home with my own dogs it wasn’t working at all – just ask me about connecting to YOUR dog, it worked great but connecting with my own proved more challenging.

Kelso began suffering seizures on Monday of his final week; I heard it sounding as if something had fallen from a shelf into his office before hitting the floor, only for me to realize he was seizing. Our vet later determined he needed surgery for two bleeding tumors attached to his spleen; at no point was I concerned with his welfare; instead, my heartbreak kept me too upset for any intuitive checks on him or intuitive contact between ourselves.

On the day of Kelso’s surgery, his energy seemed slightly disoriented due to anti-seizure medication. I took a moment to intuitively check on him and saw that it seemed dislocated from his body. Here is a video that demonstrates how an animal’s spirit leaves their body at death (the spirit escapes through its bum, then completely separates at that moment.). At first, I questioned my connection to Kelso and assumed it must have been due to my concerns for his wellbeing. Before Kelso entered for surgery, my husband Kevin and I took time to hug and say our goodbyes – though at the time I thought we were being overdramatic. Furthermore, I continued ignoring what had come across from his energy.

After Kelso’s surgery, we transported him to an overnight facility approximately 30 minutes away for observation and monitoring. While waiting to speak with the vet, I connected with Kelso again and noticed his energy had dissipated halfway out of his body – something similar to what Bella had looked like the day she passed – but I quickly disregarded what I saw since I did not trust my intuition and disregarded what had come through my senses.

As part of the paperwork, we filled out another form that requested that we mark one box: Do Not Resuscitate or Perform CPR (we checked both boxes), though later I told Kevin I wasn’t certain it was the best decision and asked his advice on it; Kevin replied by acknowledging his feelings on it as well.
